Cheques, deposit and Ejari

Renewals and rent increases
Your landlord must give at least 90 days' notice before expiry to change terms. Increases are limited by Decree No. 43 of 2013 against the RERA index, shown in the table. What to inspect in a JVC building
- Building quality: look at lobbies, corridors, lifts and the gym. Ask how quickly the management company responds to faults.
- Chiller: some buildings include cooling, others bill it separately. Confirm in writing.
- Parking: many buildings allocate a single bay. Check visitor parking on the street at night.
- Construction: empty plots nearby may become building sites. Ask what is planned.
- Damp and leaks: check bathroom ceilings and around AC units for staining.
